This time of year is always jam packed with glider activity. In the Mid-Atlantic we have 5 active gliders deployed by partners ready to collect vital data as Laura is forecast to enter our region this weekend. RU_33 was recovered to charge the battery and re-deployed off the coast of New Jersey within 3 business days!
MARACOOS_1 was deployed by the University of Delaware and is off the coast of Delaware and Maryland.
Amelia was deployed by the Virginia Institute of Marine Science and is off the Coast of Virginia.
Blue was deployed west of Martha’s Vineyard however ran into some technical problems and had to be recovered a few days later.
US Navy Glider NG_619 and NG_666 continue their tracks.
The MARACOOS team is working hard to keep assets deployed to collect vital data that improves hurricane forecasts!
