Dr. Hugh Roarty was invited by Lt. Chris Shivock from the United States Coast Guard to give a presentation to search and rescue controllers from Sector Delaware Bay. The meeting was kicked off by Mr. Robert Netsch, SAROPS System Engineer, who led a discussion on the latest advances in the SAROPS software package. Then Dr. Roarty gave a presentation on the various surface current products that MARACOOS provides t the Coast Guard for search and rescue. The products that were highlighted were surface current measurements from High Frequency radar and surface current predictions from the Short Term Prediction System (STPS) and from the ocean model ESPRESSO. These prodcust are the first and fourth most popular surface current products with the Coast Guard for search and rescue.
