Using OceansMap to Follow Hurricane Matthew

OceansMap is being used by MARACOOS (Mid-Atlantic Regional Association Coastal Ocean Observing System) to visualize and analyze data as the hurricane season moves into full swing. Researchers and scientists from the many universities in MARACOOS are using gliders, drifters, buoys, models, radars, and satellite-derived data to analyze ocean dynamics, and estimate flooding in the Mid-Atlantic Bight as hurricanes and storms move through the region.

For the duration of the storm the hurricane layer will remain the default upon loading of the page, displaying the Active Tropical Storms Layer, Spaghetti Tracks, Wave Heights and Wind Intensity.
