The Connecticut shore is home to a robust commercial fishing industry and thriving aquaculture trade. According to CT.Gov, Connecticut’s aquaculture industry utilizes over 61,000 acres of Connecticut’s coastal waters for shellfish farms relying on the health of Long Island Sound to support the growing industry.

Systems like MARACOOS’ HF Radar station located on Great Captain’s Island operated by the University of Connecticut can provide near-real-time data on surface currents, wind, and wave data to support coastal management.
